Over the course of a 16-week semester, the University of Michigan’s Integrated Product Development class challenged multidisciplinary teams to design and develop a product that promotes wellness in individuals over the age of 40 by getting them outdoors. The course culminated in online and physical trade shows in which students showcased product concepts and physical prototypes that trade show participants “purchased” with a proxy budget
INTRODUCTION
RESULT
Created a chalk robot concept with a connected app that enables any hard surface to be converted into a game boundary (e.g. pickleball court) or chalk art, encouraging back pain-free play. Won online and physical trade shows on profit dimension
GOAL
Develop a compelling, high quality product concept and physical prototype of an innovative product that promotes wellness in recent retirees
APPROACH
Using an iterative design process, the team studied unmet needs of recent retirees. I coordinated the various workstreams (design, UX, business case) and owned activities related to research, prototyping and concept testing
